The Doors Open Once Again

added 16 July 2003 at 17.46

Legendary 60’s psychedelic rockers The Doors (or at least keyboardist Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger) will be playing a one-off date in London this winter. These men are evil and must be stopped.

The band originally reformed in September last year, with keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robbie Krieger and drummer John Densmore to play a gig in California with ex-Cult ‘singer’ Ian Astbury handling vocal duties (as original frontman, lizard king and fat poet Jim Morrison had the decency to be dead and will didn’t get involved).

However, Densmore was unable to play due to a hearing disorder and was replaced by ex Police sticksman Stuart Copeland¸ before being fired himself (both drummers since tried to sue the band).

Despite this, and flying in the face of common sense, decency and good taste the two remaining members (and Astbury) recently set out on a world tour and will be coming to the UK to play a gig at Wembley Arena on December 11.

Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday (July 18) but we at the Xfm News desk cannot stress enough what a f***ing travesty we believe this concert to be.

According to reports, Manzarek, Krieger and Astbury also plan to write material as Doors 21st Century, which in itself is yet another reason not to encourage them by buying tickets. It’ll only encourage them.

Twats.
