Marilyn Manson Probed By Swiss
Not content with offending the moral majority of America, Marilyn Manson has managed to incur the wrath of the most neutral of countries, Switzerland, as a religious group wants to take him to court.
The Antichrist Superstar (real name Brian Warner) and his band have had a formal complaint made against them by the Swiss-based Christians For Truth organisation.
The religious group have made a formal complaint about Manson’s stage act. Zurich District Prosecutor Michael Scherrer has stated that Manson was under investigation for allegedly breaching Swiss law protecting religion and making incitements to violence during a concert in Zurich in February 2001.
Scherrer has since interviewed Manson in advance of a concert at Zurich stadium on Sunday (December 7) since the Christians For Truth Christian and have tried to prevent the gig from happening on the grounds that Manson's views were “offensive to a majority of the population”.
Manson has denied the claims, citing artistic freedom and explaining that his show was meant to provoke a debate about violence and religion.
While Scherrer has yet to decide whether he’ll charge the singer, he has said that the concert will go ahead.
Marilyn Manson is currently on a European tour and will be joining Jane's Addiction for a New Year's Eve gig in New York.
