Johnny Cash Laid To Rest In Tennessee

Over 1,000 mourners, including numerous stars from the music world, attended the private service for country legend Johnny Cash at the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville near Nashville, Tennessee.
Cash passed away aged 71 last Friday (September 12) after suffering from respiratory failure brought on by diabetes. The service was held yesterday (September 16) led by Cash’s daughter Rosanne who spoke to the congregation, saying "I can almost live in a world without Johnny Cash because he will always be with us. I cannot begin to imagine a world without Daddy."
Country stars who attended included Dwight Yoakam, Vince Gill, Travis Tritt, George Dunn, the Statler Brothers, the Oak Ridge Boys, Hank Williams Junior, George Jones, Ricky Skaggs and singer-songwriter-actor Kris Kristofferson (who wrote Cash's 1970 hit, 'Sunday Morning Champion') who stated "He represented the best of America; we're not going to see his like again."
He described the singer as "Abraham Lincoln with a wild side, whose work in life has been an inspiration and salvation to so many people around the world. A good man who also struggled with many challenges in his life. He was a deeply religious man."
During the service (conducted by Reverend Franklin Graham, son of Cash's friend, the televangelist Billy Graham) Emmylou Harris and Sheryl Crow performed a gospel hymn, 'The Old Rugged Cross', and a rendition of Bob Dylan's 'Grain Of Sand'.
The younger generation has also been quick to add their tributes to the singer. Coldplay's Chris Martin (who had reportedly been writing a song for the singer) said to the BBC, “Johnny Cash crossed over generations to make him one of the few artists that both my dad and I will greatly miss."
According to reports, a public memorial service for Cash is currently being planned.
