Blur Play Exclusive London Date

added 04 November 2003 at 12.12

In addition to their already sold out dates at The Brixton Academy in November, Blur have added one more London date to their extensive UK winter tour, and will become the first band ever to play the Coronet Theatre.

Damon Albarn’s combo will reportedly be playing the 2,200 capacity Coronet on the New Kent Road in London on December 5.

The venue, which was opened in 1910, has in its time played host to performances by Charlie Chaplain, and was at one point a cinema. But has never been used by a popular music combo such as The Blur.

Albarn recently made a low key appearance at the Coronet as part of the Celebrating Africa Festival where he played alongside Nigerian rhythmatist Tony Allen, who previously worked with one of the Blur singer’s heroes, afro beat pioneer Fela Kuti.

Tickets for the concert go on sale on November 8 and will be available through www.blur.co.uk.

Blur’s full UK tour dates are:

  • Glasgow Barrowlands (November (20, 21 & 22)
  • Liverpool Royal Court (24)
  • Wolverhampton Civic Hall (25 & 26)
  • Manchester Apollo (28 & 29)
  •  King Georges Hall, Blackburn (30)
  • London Brixton Academy (December 2, 3 & 4)
  • Coronet Theatre, London (5)
  • Dublin Olympia (7 & 8)
  • Brighton Centre (11)
  • Bournemouth BIC (12)
