Alien Ant Farm - 'truANT'

added 18 August 2003 at 12.10

Returning after a horrific tourbus crash, Alien Ant Farm are back and stronger than ever this week with their epic second album 'truANT'. Hear it here.

After the runaway success of their 'ANThology' debut around an admittedly superb Michael Jackson cover and a horrific bus crash that left all four band members in various states of severe disrepair for several months, it's clear that Dryden Mitchell, Terry Corso, Tye Zamora and Mike Cosgrove are done with the grinning pranksters image that has largely characterised their career so far.

That's not to say that AAF have lost their unique sense of humour, Dryden apparently recorded every single vocal for 'truANT' with cayenne pepper on his balls, but songs like 'Hope' with it's tribal undertones and bitterly betrayed lyrics or 'Tia Lupe' with it's pleading 'if she'd only left the light on' refrain definately showcase a new side to the band, at once diverse and intense. And for those of you that enjoy spooky coincidences, the final mixing of the record was completed one year to the day after the crash.
