Air To Play Rare UK Tour

added 25 November 2003 at 11.53

Masters of mellow coffee table-friendly synth pop Air (a.k.a. Gaullic duo Jean-Benoît Dunckel and Nicolas Godin) have announced a series of rare UK dates in support of their new album ’Talkie Walkie’.

The pair will be undertaking a nine dates UK tour to promote the album, which (while it won’t be officially released until January 26) is already being regarded as a return to form after 2001's critically slated album ‘10,000 Hz Legend’.

The record has been mixed by Beck, Radiohead and Travis producer Nigel Godrich (the pair produce and engineer their own material), a bond formed when Godrich mixed the band’s last project ‘City Reading (Tre Storie Western)’ (a spoken word/poetry collaboration with Italian author Alessandro Baricco, which came out earlier this year).

Unlike their previous albums ’Talkie Walkie’ features vocals from Dunckel and Godin themselves. The first single to be taken from the album will be ‘Cherry Blossom Girl’ which is released on January 12.

Air’s full tour dates are:

  • Brighton Dome (February 9)
  • Birmingham Academy (10)
  • Nottingham Rock City (11)
  • Manchester Apollo (13)
  • Glasgow Academy (14)
  • Dublin Olympia (15)
  • Cambridge Corn Exchange (17)
  • London Brixton Academy (18)
