Xfm Prizewinner Heads To Ibiza Rocks

Thanks to Sony Ericsson, Xfm listener Beki Turner was lucky enought to jet off to Ibiza Rocks where she caught live performances from The Pigeon Detectives and Ladyhawke. Read her review right here.

Xfm Prizewinner Beki Turner writes...

Having always affiliated it with orange tans melting in the heat of alarmingly lavish nightclubs, I was astonished and slightly appalled as I frantically begged my boss for time off work to go to Ibiza.

On this occasion however, the itinerary was hotter than a metallic G-string on Bora Bora beach: I was an XFM prize winner and I was heading to Ibiza Rocks.

Shortly after boarding the plane, my friend Jo and I discovered that electro-pop queen Ladyhawke and her entourage were sitting next to us. The warm, sparkling wine was flowing as we were chatting away and a pack of delirious teenagers got their bottles of booze confiscated.

On arrival at Ibiza airport we were whisked off to The Ibiza Rocks Hotel and after dropping off our stuff we headed to to Café Mambo where Xfm was being broadcast upstairs. We were lucky enough to be introduced to Xfm's Dave Berry and Chris, just before they kicked off their special broadcast.

Next, it was time to head to San Rafael to see Ladyhawke and The Pigeon Detectives at The Hippodrome. When we got to venue, we jumped the queue (we were winners, after all) and headed to the outdoor arena where Ladyhawke were in full swing.

Clutching our paper cups of beer, we managed to catch the last few songs including the gorgeous Paris Is Burning and joyful glitterball of pop Back Of The Van.

But it wasn't long until The Pigeon Detectives swaggered on stage.

It didn’t take long for their sparky Northern charm to start exploding all over the place as classics like I Found Out and I’m Not Sorry got the indie throngs rocking and vocalist Matt got into the swing of things by catapulting himself around the stage.

Festivities and drunken frolics continued at the after party back at Ibiza Rocks Hotel, where we joined the Xfm gang together with The Pigeon Detectives and other random fun-seekers for one final indie knees up.
