Friends Of The Bride on Xfm

It's a multimedia bonanza from new London band Friends Of The Bride with both a live X-Posure session and an interview with the lads. Read on...
Formed in 2006, Friends Of The Bride have been gigging solidly for the past year-and-a-half, but they are far from amatuers. Spotted fairly early on for their potential to bring something new to an occassionally stagnating indie-pop scene, the band are doing just that.
Ahead of their appearance on John Kennedy's X-Posure (March 20), Xfm caught up with Bride's-mates Bobby, Kerin, Sam and Feltham in a busy pub just down the road from the Barfly in Chalk Farm, where the band were playing that night.
Listen to the intrview below and then check out their live session recorded for John Kennedy's X-Posure...
It's always been hard for people to define your sound, or put a label on you...Some have called you 'Nu-Croon' and others have even suggested that you play a new style of jazz. How would you fit into the British jazz scene?
"There's no British jazz scene now is there? It's kind of children's jazz, the influences on us..." [Listen To Full Answer]
Speaking of labels and the propensity for music journalists to use them, what are your thoughts on this necessary evil? How do you feel about being called 'retro'?
"It's just unfair...quite an offensive word. Labels are wrong!" [Listen To Full Answer]
Some might call Myspace another one of these modern necessary evils. Is it evil?
"We're perfectly happy with everything we've put on Myspace...the downside is that you make yourself a little bit too available..." [Listen To Full Answer]
So people can hear you at any time on the web, but how much more important is playing live?
"Live is where it all comes together...it's the reward" [Listen To Full Answer]
The new single, 'You Can't Take Him Anywhere,' is out now. What's it all about?
"It's about when you know somebody who's dangerous and 'well hard'. A part of you is attracted to that, but you want to keep them at arm's length..." [Listen To Full Answer]
Who's floating your boat at the moment and what are your influences?
"The School, that's my top tip...also Mark Murphy, he's been a huge influence..." [Listen To Full Answer]
