added 14 May 2009 at 15.53

The ‘Park’s Paul Smith and Lukas Miller take John Kennedy through their brilliant third album, ‘Quicken The Heart’, track by track.

Maximo Park are back, and they’re back in style. New album ‘Quicken The Heart’ is about to hit the stores, and the sneak preview we’ve heard has had us salivating like rabid dogs. Yes, it’s that good.

Lukas and Paul came in to the studio to spend a good hour with John Kennedy, chewing the cud over their sonic fruits. All you need to know about the album, how it was made and what it’s about is right here.

We’d brew up a cuppa if we were you, that Paul Smith can talk…

Part 1: In possibly the longest opening link in radio history (20 minutes), the band talk about getting away from the obsessive perfection of their last album. Among many, many other things. [Hear The Full Answer Now]

Part 2: Paul and Lukas discuss ‘Wraithlike’ and the cheeky pop of ‘The Penultimate Clinch’. [Hear The Full Answer Now]

Part 3: ‘The Kids Are Sick Again’ and ‘Tanned’ go under the microscope. [Hear The Full Answer Now]

Part 4: Paul talks about ‘A Cloud Of Mystery’ and the importance of mystique in a relationship. The rascal. [Hear The Full Answer Now]

Part 5: The pair discuss ‘In Another World (You Would’ve Found Yourself By Now)' and ‘Let’s Get Clinical’. Sadly the latter is not an anthem for surgeons going into theatre. [Hear The Full Answer Now]

Part 6: ‘Roller Disco Dreams’ and ‘Questing Not Coasting’ get talked about. [Hear The Full Answer Now]

Part 7: Finally, Paul and Lukas talk about the final two tracks on the album, ‘Overland, West Of Suez’ and ‘I Haven’t Seen Her In Ages’. [Hear The Full Answer Now]
