Xfm Meets Roses, Kings, Castles

Babyshambles' drummer Adam Ficek spoke to Xfm about his side project Roses, Kings, Castles, future Babyshambles plans and his personal way of distribution which will be helping our postmen!

Speaking from Thailand, Adam Ficek spoke to Xfm about his solo project Roses, Kings, Castles and how fans can get his music delivered straight to their door.

Adam also told us about the encouragement he recieved from bandmate Pete Doherty and how he divides his time between his own project and Babyshambles.

Can you tell us about the EP you're putting together for Roses, Kings, Castles?

"Peter was doing his solo stuff and we all had some time on our hands.  A lot will be for Babyshambles but..." [Listen To Full Answer]

Did you write a lot of it on tour?

"Yeah, well I write a lot anyway, I write constantly so for me it's a..." [Listen To Full Answer]

How do you select which material will be for Babyshambles and which for Roses, Kings, Castles?

"It depends on the guys really.  A lot of what I write is slightly twee indie-pop which wouldn't be suitable..." [Listen To Full Answer]

"That was one of the early ones I wrote, I remember doing an interview with Peter and he threw the mic at me..." [Listen To Full Answer]

Do you find it annoying when you guys work on solo projects and people assume the band is splitting?

"As soon as Peter announced his solo stuff, he's wanted to do that since before I joined the band..." [Listen To Full Answer]

Are you going to tour your solo material, maybe do some festivals?

"I don't want a promotor to get hold of it and bill on the back of the Babyshambles thing, I'd like do some low-key gigs..." [Listen To Full Answer]

You've got a very novel way of distributing your record, can you tell us about it?

"It's great that it's so easy to get stuff online I wanted to do something..." [Listen To Full Answer]

What exactly do you have to do to get it?

"To get a signed copy of the latest song 'Sparkling Boots', which is being given away..." [Listen To Full Answer]

Why did you decide to call your project Roses, Kings, Castles?

"The whole concept for using those words, for me, I guess it sums up the naivety..." [Listen To Full Answer]

Why create all this work for yourself by distributing your tracks by post?

What's next for Babyshambles?
