Robert Plant Plays Zep Material At Gig

Robert Plant last night (May 22) gave fans awaiting news of a Led Zeppelin world tour a small taster of what they can - or rather, can't - expect when he played four numbers by his erstwhile band at his concert with bluegrass singer Alison Krauss.
The pair, augmented by guitarist-producer T-Bone Burnett, radically re-worked the songs to suit the pair's forays
into American roots music.
'Black Dog' became a slow, sultry croon while 'Black Country Woman' was transformed from its charateristic stomp
into something more downhome and urgent.
'When The Levee Breaks' owed more to its original reading by blues singer Memphis Minnie rather than Led Zeppelin's bombastic version. Best of all was a straightforward version of 'Battle Of Evermore' which saw the honey-voiced Alison Krauss taking on the late Sandy Denny's role.
Despite the more relaxed nature of the music, Plant couldn't help himself as on more than one occassion
he felt compelled to pick up his mic stand and strike the poses more commonly associated with his former band.
