A Busy Time For Alex Turner

added 03 June 2008 at 15.34

There's little chance of all work and no play making Alex Turner a dull boy. Not only is the Arctic Monkeys' head-honcho about to release a new single with The Last Shadow Puppets, there's news of a pair of further collaborations.

The Last Shadow Puppets - that'll be Alex Turner and The Rascals' Miles Kane - have confirmed that the second single from their chart-topping album, 'The Age Of Understatement', will be 'Standing Next to Me'.

Out on July 7, the single will feature three brand new tracks and will be available on two 7" singles, CD and download.

The Arctic Monkeys frontman is also working with compatriot Richard Hawley on his new album and there's talk of him appearing on fellow Sheffield star Tony Christie's new opus.

Given Christie's reputation as the "Nick Cave of the chicken-in-a-basket-circuit" (just check the revenge song 'I Did What I Did For Maria' for evidence), the results should be interesting to say the least.

Any more colloborations though and Turner could well be mistaken for a member of the Vichy government.
