Xfm Meets The Black Lips

Following their recent Israeli tour the Black lips joined Steve Harris on Music: Response to talk about their notorious live performances, upcoming album and the influence of hurricane Katrina on their music.
The Southern American band notorious for their frantic live sets and eccentric style stopped by the Xfm Towers ahead of the release of their new album 'Good, Bad , Not Evil'.
Having just returned from a spontaneous tour of Israel (at the invitation of an Israeli hitchhiker they picked up) the band were keen to talk about their recent trip as well as current single 'Katrina'.
Inspired by the horrific events of the New Orleans hurricane the band wrote the track whilst still unaware whether many of their friends and indeed family had survived the tragedy which struck guitarist Ian St Pe's native city.
Tell us the story of your new single 'Katrina'.
Ian St. Pe: "When hurrican Katrina happened I was out of touch with my family for three days and I was an absolute wreck. I didn't know if my family were alive or dead..." [listen]
Your tour of Israel, is that true how it came about, the hitchhicker thing?
'That is true ...it was amazing. Us, Tori Amos, Britney Spears and Megadeth are the only foreign acts who play in Israel...' [listen]
Your well known for your live shows. Tell us a bit about the live experience when it comes to the Black Lips?
"I think last night there was nudity..." [listen]
