Githead

A fusion of avant-garde pop and funky electro grooves are on display in the debut Xfm session from, er, Githead. Listen to it right here.
Githead 'Xfm Session' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
The appearance of Githead and the release of their debut EP ‘Headgit’ in 2004 heralded a line up consisting of Colin Newman (guitar/vocals), Malka Spigel (bass, vocals) and Robin Rimbaud (guitar), producing music of hypnotic funkiness with avant-garde sensibilities.
Initially drummerless, the band wrote and rehearsed in Swim's over-cramped studio from the outset, so that all ideas could be gathered and instantly recorded. Their debut EP was released before they'd played their third, drummerless, gig.
Eerie electro grooves feature on session opener ‘My LCA’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband] before the band launch into the dark and destructive beats of ‘Fake Corpses’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband] . Distorted guitars and synth effects battle to be heard on ‘Alpha’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband] with a vocal delivery by Colin Newman that sounds like he’s reading from a storybook. ‘Antiphon’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband] brings the set to a close sounding like a hidden track from Radiohead’s ‘Kid A’ album.
