Garden

Ex-Simian member Simon Lord and the rest of his crew bring some ornate psychedelics and extravagant explosions into the studios to create a fresh, exciting and hypnotic session for Xfm. Hear the exclusive set right here.
Garden 'Xfm Session'
[Dial-Up]
[Broadband]
Previous frontman of warped pop four piece Simian, Simon Lord is now the artistic influence behind latest psychedelic nu-folk venture Garden. After growing up in the middle of nowhere he was inspired by the countryside that surrounded him, claiming it’s ‘the same way rappers talk about the streets’ and that being ‘down with the greenery’ has helped him to create some modern folk with a psychedelic pop twist.
It all went wrong for Simian when Virgin Records swallowed up Source Records. However they continued to carry the psychedelic folk torch by starting up their own label ‘Trial & Error Recordings’, which is also home to ex-Simian members, Doloroso and Lions & Tigers. Listen out too for new organ player Morgane Lhote (Projects/Stereolab), who takes them to new levels with her psychedelic riffs.
Kickstarting the session is the folk tinged 'Yours To Hold' [Dial-Up]
[Broadband] taken from their debut EP ‘An Introduction To...', with a touch of contemporary electronica via The Beatles. The EP also features the mesmerising 'Bluebells'
[Dial-Up]
[Broadband] and 'Yew Tree'
[Dial-Up]
[Broadband], slightly reminiscent of Radiohead's '2 + 2 = 5'. Garden's imaginative approach brings the session to a quirky, wind-powered close.
