The eccentric former frontman of indie band James left music a couple of years ago, since concentrating on his acting career, dance-tuition and writing. However, once a musician always a musician, and now Tim Booth returns with an excellent solo-debut. Listen to him live in session exclusively for Xfm.

Tim Booth was always known as an odd character - during his 20 years in James; he once got the whole band to join a spiritual cult, and is an enthusiastic fan of tantric sex, scream therapy and 5-rhythm dancing(?). Still, his multi-faceted talent spectrum remains undiminished - during his years away from music he starred in the stage production of 'Saved' and landed a support role as one of the baddies in the next Batman film. Recently however he#'s got back to his musical roots with 'Bone', an aptly-named, stripped-down solo outing.

Things kick off with the captivating ‘Wave’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband] where joyfully swinging melody meets softly confident vocals, followed by the ominous ‘Monkey-God’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband] on which ethnic drums spice up the distressing beat. Next up is the session version of radio-hit ‘Down To The Sea’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband] , a David Gray-esque piece of pop magic beautifully set with a frail angelic aria, gently repeated in the background. ‘Just Fall In Love’  [Dial-Up] [Broadband] ends the session on a modestly heartfelt epic love song.
