X-clusive - The Muse Returneth

Matt Bellamy from Muse has revealed that he has already been written and plans to record the “more uplifting” follow up to their album ‘Origin of Symmetry’ this year.
“We’ve just this second come off tour,” Bellamy explained, “And we’re just about to start recording our new album, we’ve written nearly all the songs, loads of songs, 15 or 16 songs, and there’s loads of other loose ideas around.”
“This summer has been a few gigs at the weekends and a few in the week and in between we’ve been rehearsing a lot more together. ‘Origin of Symmetry’ we wrote and recorded while on the road, and that sound is represented in the album, a little bit confused, a little bit lost, and we don’t know what’s happening to us”
It seems Muse’s much heralded performances at the Carling Reading and Leeds Festivals mark the end of an era for the band, and a chance for them to revisit their past to an extent.
“This next album is gonna be a lot more personal, cos I think I’ve changed a lot since the first album, and we’ve [the band] have found a certain closeness and we’re rehearsing in a way that reminds me of when we were 15.”
“Reading and Leeds [Festivals] were what we were heading for all this time, and it was definitely the end of a certain period of time for us. And for that reason all the new songs we’re working on are going in a different direction. Something sounds a bit more uplifting about it all, without sounding too happy-happy about it. There’s an uplifting nature in what we do right now”
As for the new song’s names though, it doesn’t seem the new material appears to be any more cheerful sounding than the old ones.
“I’m really crap at song titles but I’ve got ‘Thoughts Of A Dying Atheist’.” Bellamy laughed, That’s a real happy sounding song isn’t it?”
