Stereophonics

With the new 'Language. Sex. Vioence. Other?' Stereophonics have rediscovered the raw rock energy they first made their name with. Check out Kelly Jones and co on top form in the Xfm studios.
Stereophonics 'Xfm Session' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
It's been a rough ride for Stereophonics over recent years, critically mauled for the 'Just Enough Education To Perform' album (possibly due to the inclusion of the journo-baiting 'Mr Writer') the band were written off as creatively bankrupt, a situation not helped by the acrimonious departure of founder drummer Stuart Cable.
But last year's 'Language. Sex. Violence. Other?' record, while not reversing the trend for bizarre album titles, marked a return to the kind of raw, rock focused material the band made their name with.
The band kickstart a rare live session with recent single 'Dakota' [Dial-Up] [Broadband] , a surly, pounding beast of a tune born for the open road.
Next up is 'Doorman' [Dial-Up] [Broadband] , a track which does for surly bouncers what 'Mr Writer' did for snooty music journalists - 'All I wanna do/Is make a mess out of you' Jones hisses with barely-restrained menace.
Current single 'Superman' [Dial-Up] [Broadband] closes things down, a laonic, drawling number rich with the kind of unshakeable self-belief that's kept the 'phonics going through good times and bad.
