U2 Add 'Vertigo' UK Tour Dates

After all the tickets for U2's concert at Twickenham Stadium sold out within a matter of minutes, Xfm can reveal that the band have revealed details of a second UK live date.
Tickets for the U2's 'Vertigo' tour dates at London Twickenham Stadium on Saturday June 18 went on sale this morning Friday January 28, and (not surprisingly) all the 75,000 tickets sold out within minutes of going on sale.
So (once again, not surprisingly) due to this phenomenal demand, the band have announced another date at the venue. U2 will now be playing a second show at Twickenham Stadium on Sunday June 19.
Tickets are available from the Xfm Xchange on 0871 222 1049 or from the Xfm Online Ticket Shop at www.xfm.co.uk/gigguide.
The band will also be playing previously announced dates at the City Of Manchester Stadium, Hampden Park Glasgow, Croke Park Stadium Dublin and the Millennium Stadium Cardiff also in June.
The five dates will form part of a huge worldwide tour for U2 which will kick off on March 28 at the San Diego Sports Arena in America. Reports estimate that the tour will be the highest earning jaunt of 2005, with the band expected to make in excess of $250 million.
U2 will also be adding additional dates to their already announced US tour - as well as promising to return to the states to play new shows in the Autumn, a move prompted by the huge pre-sales of tickets at many of the venues. A statement from the band's management reads:
"U2 are hoping to return to North America for more shows this Autumn, and rollover dates for the first North American leg are also on the cards. While the Autumn leg is not confirmed yet, the already announced opening North American leg is likely to include rollover dates - that is additional shows in currently advertised venues.
"There has been a phenomenal demand for the 'Vertigo 2005 Tour' presale on both sides of the Atlantic. In North America - where venues are indoor and have a smaller capacity - most fans have succeeded in getting their tickets but some venues, notably the New York Madison Square Garden show, have reached their presale capacity."
"We are sorry that presale tickets for the Madison Square Garden show have sold out." Paul McGuinness, U2's manager told www.u2.com, "But it is the band's intention to play more shows at Madison Square Garden in the Autumn."
