Foo Fighters Speak About New Album

added 06 January 2005 at 10.25

Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl has given fans an update on how the band’s fifth studio album is shaping up. As previously reported the album is set to be a double with each disc showing a different side to the band’s music.

Foo Fighters have revealed that they will be marking the band’s ten year anniversary with a new double release. The band will split the album into two distinctive styles, rock and acoustic.

However, while the band have released songs in both styles before, the new songs will be pushing the genres to the extreme. Grohl told the BBC, "The good thing about doing it is that you split it up so that there's no middle ground. So the rock stuff is the most rocking stuff we've ever worked on, ever and the acoustic stuff will be the trippiest, most beautiful, sleepy music we've ever made, almost like a soundtrack.

The album is set for release in the summer, either in June or July, and the band are currently recording in a converted warehouse in Los Angeles. As part of a mooted worldwide promotional tour the band have already confirmed a headline appearance at the Oxegen festival 2005 in Dublin, Ireland on July 10.

Other acts already confirmed are The Prodigy (likely to headline July 9) and Ian Brown.

The Oxegen festival takes place on July 9 – 10 and, following an Earlybird offer, tickets go back on sale in late February. Tickets are priced as follows:

One Day: €64.50 (approx. £45)
Two Day: €120 (£84.50)
Two Day with Camping: €140 (£100)
All prices include booking fee.
