X-clusive: Franz New Single Before Xmas?

added 14 September 2004 at 10.11

Following the success of fourth single ‘Michael’, Franz Ferdinand are reported to be releasing a new track in the run up to Christmas not featured on their debut album.

Rumours are rife that the Mercury Music Award winners Franz Ferdinand’s next UK single will be ‘Can't Stop Feeling'. While no release date has been offically confirmed yet, Franz website's are claiming the single will drop in late November. The track was recorded in Malmo, Sweden last year for inclusion on the debut album, but was dropped at the last minute.

However, the track has been remixed and by uber-producer Dan The Automator and will be released as a one-off single to bridge the gap until the band begin recording their second album early next year. The remix sees Automator return the favour as singer Alex Kapranos has recently added guest vocals to a track on the new album from Dan The Automator's side project, Handsome Boy Modeling School. Kapranos has added vocals to lead single ‘The World's Gone Mad’ along with reggae and dancehall legend Barrington Levy and rapper and Gorillaz co-conspirator Del Tha Funkee Homosapien.

The band revealed recently that they have a handful of new songs written already including ‘Your Diary’ and ’This Boy’ (debuted at this year's Reading Festival) and there are more on the way.

“It’s pretty easy to wrote anywhere, on  a tour bus, in a car park, you can write wherever you want,” Kapranos continued, “But arranging stuff is the really difficult bit, sitting down with the rest of your band making it sound like ‘your’ songs.”
