Charlotte Hatherley

The pop-tastic solo venture by the Girl From Ash proves that the 25-year old unofficial queen of Britrock is truly capable of standing on her own two legs. Charlotte Hatherley plays an exclusive session for Xfm, featuring material from her recently released debut-album 'Grey Will Fade'.

Charlotte Hatherley 'Xfm Session' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]

Having (jokingly?) claimed that she learnt guitar whilst busking at Warren Street tube station, Charlotte Hatherley joined her first band 'Nightnurse' whilst still at school, signed an independent deal and played to audiences of up to 100 people. However, when the offer to join Ash came along at the age of 18 she seized the opportunity, learned the entire Ash back catalogue within a matter of weeks and made her first live Ash debut in front of 50,000 people. Daring, one might say, but to leave the success-ship Ash in order to test the appeal of her own Kate Bush inspired talents is an even steeper challenge, one which she's mastered with excellence.

The acoustic session opens with Hatherley's current single ‘Summer’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband] , a merry pop-tune with girly double-harmonies and a catchy refrain. Next up is ‘Bastardo’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband]  a fast-paced humorous tale about a cheeky one-night stand leading to a devastating guitar theft. Finishing with the eclectic ‘Kim Wilde’  [Dial-Up] [Broadband] , Hatherley proves that her talents as a singer and songwriter are as worthy as her powerful guitar-playing.
