Guns N Roses: Chinese Democracy Almost Ready?

added 06 August 2004 at 11.57

Rumours circulate constantly, but Guns N Roses bassist Tommy Stinson has hinted that the band’s long awaited comeback LP ‘Chinese Democracy’ may finally be just around the corner. A Gunner since 1998, Stinson has also revealed just what it’s like to work with mainman Axl Rose.

As previously reported on Xfm Online, rumours are circulating that the highly anticipated ‘Chinese Democracy’ is due for release in November this year. Fans have been waiting for Axl to get his act together and actually record some vocals for over a decade, but Stinson claims the wait is almost over.

Speaking to Kerrang! magazine, the bass player commented "It's a hair's breadth from being finished", making a November release seem not out of the question.

"We have a great relationship," says Stinson of his relationship with the notoriously volatile Rose. "He is very supportive. Hopefully some time soon the press will want to talk to him about the positive shit that is going on in his life now. Not just about drugs and drink like the way they always do. But when people come to see Guns N Roses they come to see one person, we know that.

"He [Axl] is your best friend until you break the chain and then he doesn't want to know you. There are no half measures; you are either with him or against him."

The album has been recorded by Rose and an undefined collection of musicians, including Dizzy Reed (Keyboards, programming), Stinson himself (Bass), Robin Finck (Lead guitar), Richard Fortus (Rhythm guitar), Brian ‘Brain’ Mantia (Drums), Chris Pitman (Keyboardist, Special Effects) and recently departed lead guitarist Buckethead.

Songs rumoured to appear on the new record include ‘Cock-A-Roach Soup’, ‘This I Love’, ‘Suckerpunched’, ‘No Love Remains’, ‘Friend Or Foe’, ‘Zip It’, ‘Something Always’, ‘Hearts Always Get Killed’, ‘This Life’, ‘Closing In On You’, ‘Catcher In The Rye’, ‘IRS’, ‘Strange Disease’, ‘Never Had It’, ‘Today, Tomorrow, Forever’ and our personal favourite ‘TWAT’.

In other Guns N Roses related news, fan site Here Today...Gone To Hell reports that ex-Gunner and Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash is among the noted axemen who will appear on the upcoming children's album Sing A Song With Six Strings, due out October 5

The album features an eclectic mix of artists and draws from rock, blues, adult contemporary and country music. But for children. No, we don’t understand either.
