Coldplay's Chris Martin Feels Pull Of 'Gravity'
Following the birth of his new-born child Apple, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has returned to his day job and penned a new song. However, Coldplay will not be performing the song…
It is reported this week that Martin has written the comeback single for indie stalwarts Embrace. Martin and Embrace frontman Danny McNamara are old friends and even played together before Coldplay rose to fame with the release of 'Parachutes'.
Martin has revealed that he has donated the song 'Gravity' to the band, which will be released in August as the first single from Embrace's long-awaited new album, due September 13.
Speaking about the song, Martin explained: "We've always loved Embrace and Danny is one of my best friends. When we wrote 'Gravity' we thought it sounded far too much like them for us, but not too much like them for them, so I asked Danny if he wanted the song and that was that."
The 10-track album has been produced by long-time Embrace collaborator Youth. "We couldn't make a better album if we had another 100 years," explained McNamara. "I don't know how we are going to follow it, maybe we never will. I can't imagine us ever doing better than this."
Embrace will return to the live stage with a performance on September 3 at London's Shepherds Bush Empire.
