The Libertines Not Splitting Up

Despite recent claims by Libertines’ co-frontman Pete Doherty, that he is abandoning the band to live in France, the troubled group’s manager Alan McGee has stated that the band are not splitting up.
In an online message the ex-Creation and Poptones records label boss explained that the group are still together, though Doherty is back in rehab for his drug addiction.
“The band is not splitting up but I agree these are not happy times.” He explained, “Peter is in a hospital and is getting treatment. His mum is constantly with him at present and she has been brilliant.”
Due to Doherty’s problems the band were forced to pull out of the upcoming Anti Fascism gig at the Hammersmith Apollo (“We are all gutted about the LHMR gig.” McGee explained) but the group’s priority is getting their bandmate in good health again.
“We are all really concerned about Peter as anybody would be about somebody they cared about.” McGee continued, “He is truly in really good medical hands so please stop the rumours. At the moment it's day to day as we are trying to get Peter well.”
How the current situation will affect The Libertines upcoming festival commitments is not yet known as the band have made it clear they don’t intend to play any concerts without Doherty at present.
