X-clusive: Ryan Adams To Release 'Wonderwall’

After being played on Xfm repeatedly over the past few weeks, comes the news that Ryan Adams’ acoustic version of Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ will be getting a full release later this year.
The track has been a firm fixation on the Xfm Playlist for the past few weeks, and features Adams covering the famous Oasis song with just the American singer/songwriter’s vocals and acoustic guitar.
It originally appeared on Adams’ EP ‘Love Is Hell, Pt. 1’ which was released in May 2004, and had become a staple of the singer’s live set. Even the song’s composer Noel Gallagher was impressed, and was quoted at the time explaining how much he liked Adam’s version, saying,
"I went to see Ryan Adams in Manchester. So he's playing away and he just does 'Wonderwall'
right in the middle of the set. The fu**ing place went silent. It was so beautiful. I was just like, 'Fu**ing Jesus Christ what a fu**ing song!' Afterwards, I told him, 'You can have that song, man, because we could never quite get it right.'"
Now, Ryan Adams version of ‘Wonderwall’ will be released for the first time as a stand alone single on June 28 on Mercury/Lost Highway Records.
Adams also re-recorded the whole of The Strokes' debut album 'Is This It' on a four-track recorder while on a course of painkiller Vicodin after an operation on an abscess in his tooth back in 2002.
Though it remains (possibly thankfully) unreleased.
