New Found Glory's New Found Direction

Pop-punk band 'New Found Glory' from Florida are back in the UK with a new album, playing an exclusive session for Xfm and talking to Ian Camfield about their change of direction.
New Found Glory first started playing together in '97 and due to their commitment, determination and "being one with the fans" strategy they are now playing sold-out gigs and releasing their fourth album - 'Catalyst'. Recently New Found Glory played London's Astoria with a remarkable 30 song set - supporting themselves!
The band draw their inspiration from everything between hardcore, metal and classic rock, but for the new album the band made a sub-consious decision to experiment more and distance themselves from the pop-punk genre they'd become synonamous with. As New Found Glory have matured, and their audience with them, the music has become harder, angrier and more serious, mainly because the base for their lyrics - experiences with girls, relationships and growing up - has become increasingly complicated. Their unintentional attempts to reinvent themselves were also pulled off by recording the album 80's style and partly live, using only 70's vintage guitars. According to the band, this is also their most confident album so far
New Found Glory will be touring the states for the next three months but are set to return this summer, doing festival appearances at Reading and Leeds. Check out Ian Camfield's
Music: Response interview. [listen]New Found Glory 'All Downhill From Here' [Dial-Up]
[Broadband]
This track was the first single to be released from new album 'Catalyst', performed acoustically with Jordan Prudnik's nasal vocals at their best.
New Found Glory 'I Don't Wanna Know' [Dial-Up]
[Broadband]
Finally allowing themselves to play a ballad the way it is supposed to be played, this - the slowest track of the album - shows that these hardcore punk rockers no longer have any problems with mellowing out.
