X-clusive: New York Dolls Extra Date

Xfm Online can exclusively reveal that due to overwhelming popular demand Meltdown festival curator Morrissey has asked the New York Dolls to play a second show at the Royal Festival Hall.
As previously reported, the former Smiths singer persuaded the legendary ‘70s proto glam punk band to reform for the Meltdown Festival (of which he is Artistic Director) where they have been confirmed to play on Friday 18 June.
Tickets sold out within minutes of being available, but now Xfm Online can exclusively reveal that the band will be playing a second date.
The group including original members David Johansen, bassist Arthur Kane and guitarist Sylvain Sylvain (supplemented by Guns N' Roses guitarist Izzy Stradlin and Libertines drummer Gary Powell) will be playing a second show at the Royal Festival Hall on Wednesday June 16.
Morrissey was once president of the UK New York Dolls fan club as a kid and was an obsessive follower of the group, who despite (or maybe because of) their self destructive behaviour and legendary lack of musical prowess, are largely held responsible for kick-starting the punk movement.
Tickets for the second show are availble now and can be bought from the Meltdown Hotline on 08703 808 300..
The Meltdown Festival takes place at the South Bank Centre, London from June 11 until 27. For the full line up details click here.
