James Dean Bradfield- Live On Music: Response

added 21 July 2006 at 15.16

The Manics front man displays the fruits of his first solo outing in this exclusive session and interview with Ian Camfield. Listen to it all right here.

Having been part of one of the most popular and influential bands of the past fifteen years, front man James Dean Bradfield has decided to take a break from the Manic Street Preachers to finally release his long awaited solo album.

James wrote and played most of the music on his debut ‘The Great Western’ but still enlisted the help of band mate Sean Moore to play drums on a couple of the tracks and old friend Daf from the Super Furry Animals did the rest.

Fellow Manic Nicky Wire contributed lyrics to one track called ‘Bad Boys And Painkillers’ and the album itself chronicles James’ last fifteen years from his point of view and tackles material that wouldn’t have been possible in his full time band. Having only played a handful of solo gigs he will be embarking on full U.K tour later this year before reconvening with his former partners in crime and making a new Manics album next year.

Chatting to Ian Camfield he explains why it was the right time to make a solo outing, writing lyrics and why he and Nicky wire will be sharing a bill later this year in Japan. [listen]

James Dead Bradfield ‘That’s No Way To Tell A Lie’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
A wonderfully catchy slice of pop tinged rock with fantastic vocals from James and a big organ backed chorus.

James Dead Bradfield ‘Still A Long Way To Go’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
A stripped down anthem that features mainly just James and his guitar is one the finest songs he’s written to date.

James Dean Bradfield ‘An English Gentleman’ [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
Lush harmonies a stomping sixties like beat and general sense of positive energy glows from this excellent album track.
