The Stills 'Logic Will Break Your Heart'

Debut album from the Montreal four piece, 'Logic Will Break Your Heart' soars, banks and sweeps like the pilot of a light aircraft after a big ol' peyote sandwich. Hear it here.
Proving that the history of pop culture is, if not circle, then at least oval, 'Logic Will Break Your Heart' eschews the '70s heyday of garage rock (seemingly the default playbook for young men with guitars right now) in favour of a quick trip back to the sweeping jangle of showgazing-era Blur, and the like.
It's not all daffadils in the back pocket, obviously, but the wavering vocal and slowly soaring guitar lines of 'Changes Are No Good' will certainly strike a chord among North London residents of the early nineties, even if they don't recognise the sparkle and polish of the production.
Birthed from the chance aquisition of a friend's four track recorder two years ago, The Stills recently relocated to New York (where else?) and this is the result. It's impressively free from NYC's cultural paradigm though - 'Lola Stars And Stripes' in particular managing to eschew the jagged, urban aesthetic in favour of a gentler, rural vibe without sounding like yesterday's song.
