Doherty “This Is A Grand Conspiracy”

Speaking at the start of his ‘Pipe Down’ tour in Carlisle, Doherty has spoken to local news about his “first clean tour” and commented on the Kate Moss media frenzy.
With a tour that takes in everywhere from 200 to 5000 capacity venues, the arrival of the Babyshambles rollercoaster in Carlisle was some of the biggest news to hit the city in recent months, but for Pete Doherty he’s just happy to be clean.
“This is the first time in years I’ve come on tour not being a heroin addict,” he told the News & Star. “It’s a really positive vibe, a positive exciting time. We’re just here to play music.
“This is the first night of the tour, I’m like a greyhound out of the trap. It’s 19 gigs in 21 days. We just want to play whether it’s 2,000 people or 200 people.”
Speaking about the current media fracas surrounding his relationship with supermodel Kate Moss, Doherty commented,
“I’m in the midst of a grand conspiracy. We’ve had a notoriously shambolic tour. This one takes the biscuit.
“That’s the thing about a lot of the tabloid stuff. They keep using the word junkie. It’s just not accurate.”
The tour winds up at London's Brixton Academy on October 11. Pete Doherty also features on the new single from cohorts The Littl'ans, 'Their Way'. To register your opinion on the track and hear a sample simply click here.
