Kaisers Lead Mercury Prize Odds & Vote For Your Favourite

As the nominees for the 2005 Nationwide Mercury Music Prize are announced, the Kaisers lead the pack as 4/1 favourites to win. Bloc Party, KT Tunstall and Coldplay also received favourable odds in one of the most devilishly tricky races to call in the betting calendar.
Since their inception in 1992, the annual Mercury Music Prize awards have set out to reward the best in British music, regardless of genre or style. However, predicting a winner can often seem like an impossible task. Favourites never seem to win, while a dark horse always makes a last minute surge for the winning post only to fall at the final hurdle.
This year it's the Kaiser Chiefs' 'Employment' that leads the pack (4/1), with Coldplay, Bloc Party and KT Tunstall all hot on their heels (6/1). The Magic Numbers, Hard-Fi, Antony And The Johnsons, Maximo Park and M.I.A. follow at 10/1, while Polar Bear, Seth Lakeman and The Go! Team bring up the rear (12/1).
The full list of nominations and their respective William Hill odds on winning is as follows:
- Kaiser Chiefs 'Employment' - 4/1
- Coldplay 'X&Y' - 6/1
- Bloc Party 'Silent Alarm' - 6/1
- KT Tunstall 'Eye To The Telescope' - 6/1
- The Magic Numbers 'The Magic Numbers' - 8/1
- Hard-Fi 'Stars On CCTV' - 8/1
- Antony And The Johnsons 'I Am A Bird Now' - 10/1
- Maximo Park 'A Certain Trigger' - 10/1
- M.I.A. 'Arular' - 10/1
- Polar Bear 'Held On The Tips Of Fingers' - 12/1
- Seth Lakeman 'Kitty Jay' - 12/1
- The Go! Team 'Thunder Lightning Strike' - 12/1
