Xfm's Hall Of Fame - The Shortlist

added 03 May 2006 at 12.09

This summer sees the official opening of the Xfm Hall Of Fame, where each year we'll be honouring one of the world's greatest bands or musicians. Now we've taken all your nominations and coem up with a shortlist of five bands. Vote for who you think should be the first nominee and you could win tickets to the festival of your choice!

For the the past few weeks, we've been taking your nominations for the inaugural Xfm Hall Of Fame to help us decide which band or solo artist should be honoured.

We had thousands of entries, from bands ranging from Faithless to Franz Ferdinand, from The Beatles to Blur and from Linkin Park to The Levellers (seriously), but now we've got it down to a shortlist of five bands. These are....

  • The Clash - Punk legends and inspiration for generations of bands.
  • Muse - The scale, the ambition, the live shows, the guitar solos!
  • Nirvana - The genius group who dragged alternative rock into the mainstream.
  • Oasis - Liam and Noel, heroes of Britpop and beyond.
  • Radiohead - The most musically innovative group of the decade.

A panel of musicians, DJs and music industry types will debate and discussing the shortlist during a special roundtable show on Xfm on Saturday May 27, but we'll be collecting your votes, ready to announce the name of the first band to enter the Xfm Hall Of Fame on Tuesday May 30 followed by a very special presentation at Xfm's First Friday club night on June 2 at the Islington Academy.

All you have to do is fill in the form below stating who you reckon should win (along with why and which song you'd like to hear played out on Xfm) and - just to give you even more incentive to get involved - every entry will be put into the cyber hat, one name will be pulled out and the winner will get two tickets to the UK festival of their choice this summer** plus we'll throw in travel costs and give you an Xfm Festival Pack (a tent, groundsheet and that kind of thing).

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED
