Darkness Singer Immortalised By Madame Tussauds

An exhibition at Madame Tussauds entitled ‘Air Guitar Star’ is to feature a brand new waxwork of The Darkness flamboyant frontman Justin Hawkins, and will be unveiled by the man himself.

The exhibition will be centred on the new interactive figure of The Darkness singer, which will give advice on punters learning “wild air guitar moves” in front of a live audience on a Wembley Stadium inspired set up in the museum.

‘Air Guitar Star’ begins on Thursday March 17 and Hawkins' figure will be giving tips to wannabee rockers who will have to perform a variety of rock moves, including the 'Fishtail Jump', 'Scissor Jump', 'The Windmill' , high-speed skidding across the stage and giant leaps into the crowd.

Once guests have delivered their “rock rampage”, Hawkins will give his expert opinion on their air guitar star rating from total air head to air guitar god.

Hawkins’ figure, complete with “trademark flowing locks and outlandish stage costume” will be holding a Gibson Les Paul Custom Silver Glitter guitar commissioned by the singer himself.

A statement also confirmed that supporting the performance will be a spandex-clad backing band and a variety of props including tennis racquets and brooms will be on hand to help punters get into the rock star frame of mind.

Hawkins and the rest of The Darkness will taking time off from the studio - where they are working on the follow up to their multi-million selling debut album ‘Permission To Land’ – to see the figure for the first time ever, and to lend a hand on the day offering advice to punters.

‘Air Guitar Star’ will run from  March 17 throughout the Easter holidays. Tickets are £15.99 for adults and £11.99 for children and can be booked in advance on 0870 400 3000 or at www.madame-tussauds.com.
