X-clusive: Ordinary Boys On Specials Reunion And Single

William and Preston from The Ordinary Boys have been talking exclusively to Xfm about their upcoming new single, a collaboration on their next album, and the much rumoured reunion of Two Tone legends The Specials.
Xfm caught up with Ordinary Boys guitarist William J. Brown and frontman Preston who explained that they’re already recording their new album and have a very special collaborator onboard for the news single.
“It’s going really well,” Preston explained, “It’s sounding well good, I think. We’re gonna try and release it as soon as we can. Hopefully in three months or so we’ll have a new album out. I think it’s gonna be quite special.”
“End of April or early May at the moment cos we’re gonna try and record the rest of the album really soon and stuff like that. So it should be cool,” continued Brown.
“We recorded the new single and it’s all sounding very good. It’s got a bit more of a ska feel to it but its still very much you know, The Ordinary Boys, quite energetic.”
“It’s called ‘Boys Will Be Boys’,” Preston revealled, “It’s got Rankin Roger from The Beat’s son, Mini Murphy, toasting on it and it sounds really good. It’s more of a sort of reggae ska-ey sort of song. It sounds amazing.”
Recently there have been whispers about a reformation of legendary Two-Tone band The Specials. As a friend of vocalist Terry Hall, Preston also revealed that the rumours do have some substance.
“I had a word with Terry about that,” he explained “And he said to me that he’s been talking to Jerry [Dammers – keyboardist and founder] and if they do reform it’ll be for a third album, not for like a big money making tour or anything, they’re actually gonna do some music and stuff so that should be very interesting I hope.
