Band Aid 20 - What Do You Think?

The Band Aid 20 single was played on radio for the first time this week and Xfm wants to know what you think. Plus the official list of who sang which line and why Damien Hirst’s original cover artwork hasn’t been used.
Band Aid 20 was played on Xfm for the first time at 8.00am this morning by Christian O’Connell on the Breakfast Show, and reactions to the track have ranged across the board from people who love it to some listeners who think it’s no way near as good as the original.

Xfm can also report that the cover art originally designed controversial Brit Artist Damian Hirst, has not been used. Instead the single will be a cover (pictured right) featuring a collage of images including a group of Rudolf the reindeers, a snowy winter scene and the emaciated African child that was included on the Live Aid concert posters
Speaking to Xfm, Band Aid executive producer Midge Ure explained why Hirst’s cover wasn’t used,
"It's not really about the artwork," he explained, "It doesn't really matter who's done it or who hasn't done it. Damien's thing was fantastic as a piece of art but as a record cover the Band Aid trustees didn't think it was right. It was very graphic, very in your face, just what you'd expect from Damien Hirst, [but] it's about what's inside the thing. The record, that's the important part. The cover doesn't really matter, throw the cover away, buying it is the important thing."
The single will be released in shops on Monday November 29 on Mercury Records and The Band Aid Trust. It’ll be available in one format only on CD and will retail for £3.99 with all proceeds going to The Band Aid Trust. Funds will be targeted to help victims of the famine in the Dafur region of Sudam.
