Primal Scream

With the 'Dirty Hits' compilation reminding the world exactly how damn essential Bobby Gillespie's mob are, Primal Scream played an exclusive live session for Zoë Ball.
Primal Scream 'Xfm Session' [Dial-Up] [Broadband]
By the time the behemoths of Britpop stood astride the charts in all their union jacked-up glory, Primal Scream had already defined the music of the '90's. 'Screamadelica' was the first - and, some would say, remains the finest - of the dance/roock fusions we now take for granted. Since then the 'Scream have tried their hands at '60's rock, gospel and hard dance with an ever present sense of danger and flair for experimentation. For Zoë Ball, the band played a four song set as voted for by the Xfm listeners.
Primal Scream 'Accelerator'
[Dial-Up]
[Broadband]
Taken from 2000's, vowel-free 'Xtrmntr' album, this is the sound of Prml Scrm meeting modernity as the '60's-style guitars that dominated previous albums are replaced with a more streamlined, aggressive sound.
Primal Scream 'Rocks'
[Dial-Up]
[Broadband]
Call-to-arms party anthem that rivals the Beastie Boys' 'Fight For Your Right...' for sheer ubiquity. An unusual 'Scream song in that there's no agenda here; just the sheer determined pursuit of hedonism for its own sake.
Primal Scream 'Kowalski'
[Dial-Up]
[Broadband]
Classic Primal Scream - a sample of movie dialogue set the mood right from the start before the maelstrom of sound descends, Gillespie's voice cutting through it like a torch beam. Taken from 1997's 'Vanishing Point' album, this is the kind of delicate, orchestral balance that only Primal Scream can pull off.
Primal Scream 'Movin' On Up'
[Dial-Up]
[Broadband]
The 'Scream at their most joyous and celebratory. One of those songs that stands up and shouts 'Gospel Classic!' so loud it's easy to imagine it being written about 50 years ago in a Louisiana smack shack.
