Supergrass - Live On Music: Response

Supergrass unveil their new direction, more sombre direction on Music: Response, playing live and telling Ian Camfield why their new album says all that needs to be said. Hear it here.
Have made a name for themselves at the peak of Britpop with songs bursting with youthful exuberance and cheeky playfulness, Supergrass outlived many of their contemporaries (stand up - or rather don't - Menswear, Northern Uproar and Marion) by constantly evolving their style and sound.
Following last year's 'Supergrass Is 10' best of Gaz Coombes, Mickey Finn and Danny Goffey have undergone their most significant metamorphosis yet with the upcoming 'Road To Rouen' album, a sombre, downbeat affair that's a far cry from their shiny toothed debut.
Hitting Music: Response in support of first single 'St Petersberg', the 'Grass talked to Ian Camfield about decamping to Normandy, making a 'natural' record and why 'Road To Rouen' says it all. [listen]
Supergrass 'St Petersberg'

The first hint of what's in store on 'Road To Rouen'; acoustic, sombre and downbeat. Like the hangover the day after the 'Pumping On Your Stereo' party.
Supergrass 'Low C'
[Dial-Up]
[Broadband]
More mournful acousticness - this time a plaintive paen to lost youth, especially poignant from a band we've known since they were 17.

The new record's title track breaks the new mould - a snappy, urgent travellers song featuring some cool 'slap acoustic guitar'.
