808 State - 'Ninety'

The peak of Manchester's obsession with Chicago house, featuring the sun-kissed bliss of 'Pacific State'.
The brainchild of Manchester music scene mainstays Graham Massey and Martin Price, 808 State were named after the drum machine that powered the house movement and added a particularly Mancunian slant to acid. '90' saw the group move from their own label to the legendary ZTT and was preceded by one of the key records of the Second Summer Of Love - 'Pacific State'. This monster club hit almost overshadowed the accompanying album, but there's much fun to be had with the other tracks, such as the storming double-header of 'Donkey Doctor'/'808080808'.
